Discover Long Island's Rural Heritage
Old Bethpage Village
Journey through this land of yesterday to discover a rural heritage as vital today as it was a century ago. The Village is alive with the sights and sounds of the past; the life and workstyles of our forbears.
Stroll through 100 acres of nineteenth century Long Island replete with fields, fences, antique filled homes and shops, farms and gardens. The restored sites invite the visitor to explore the past and talk with costumed interpreters eager to share their knowledge and skills.
At the village crossroads life centers on the inn, the general store and the blacksmith shop. Up the hill sits the oneroom schoolhouse and the church. Down the road find more homes and shops and the Powell farm where cows, sheep, pigs, horses and oxen are fed and tended. Relax and enjoy the presence of the past.
