Pothole Reporting
State-wide Pothole Reporting 1-800-POT-HOLE
New York State Dept. of Transportation
The New York State Department of Transportation implemented a state-wide pothole reporting system that allows travelers on New York State roads to call 1-800-POTHOLE and report a pothole on State highways. The phone lines are in service 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Reports received on the hotline will be directed to the closest NYSDOT maintenance facility, from which a maintenance crew will be dispatched as soon as weather conditions and other factors permit. Motorists will be asked to provide detailed information regarding the location of the pothole; this includes such things as the town and county, state route number, closest reference marker number, the direction of travel and the nearest landmark or crossroad. If the people reporting potholes would like to know when the repair has been completed, they will also asked to leave their names and addresses so NYSDOT can do the follow up.
