A fully programmable digital thermostat - provided FREE of charge through the Program - allows LIPA, on just a few days, and you, all through the summer, to automatically and conveniently adjust the operation and temperature of your Central Air Conditioning System (CAC). If your CAC and Heating systems are controlled by one thermostat, LIPA Edge will allow you to program your system all year round.

The EDGE thermostat gives you the ability to remotely change the temperature set point or thermostat programing in your home or business, through on-line communication when you are away. With LIPA EDGE, you will be able to send an e-mail to your air conditioner, giving it instructions from wherever you are - 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It's as easy as that! You can turn it on or off, or adjust the temperature setting remotely.

LIPA will only be adjusting your CAC system up to seven times per summer between the hours of 2 pm and 6 pm and will only raise your cooling temperature a maximum of 3 degrees, which in most cases, wouldn't even be noticed. But even this will help relieve unusually high levels of electric demand during selected days -- which can help avoid the kinds of power crises being seen elsewhere in the United States.
